Swapped out my 2013 XLT with 235k miles for a 2024 XLT Powerboost. Feels like I’m driving a spaceship. Any tips for maintaining the powerboost?
Tell you what… you drop that off in my driveway, I’ll take care of it and send you updates on how it’s doing.
Sounds like a fair deal, right?

Wow, that’s a nice offer. At least let me give you something for taking care of it though.
@Barrett
Well, if you really want to, I’m a reasonable guy.
Looks like you had the same setup as the 2013 (I’m assuming it was the 3.5 EB). Sounds like that worked pretty well for you.

The 2013 was a 5.0 and I had it with about 130k miles, so this is my first 3.5.
@Barrett
I’d suggest cutting all engine and transmission service intervals in half. Like, 5K oil changes and things like that. The rest should follow the manufacturer’s recommended schedule.

Thanks, that’s really helpful!

I’m doing the same with my 2024, every 5k full synthetic oil change. I’m also thinking about putting in an oil catch can. Had one on our previous Escape 2.0 EcoBoost to help with crud buildup in these high compression turbos.

I love my 2013 3.5 EB. I can’t imagine getting rid of it until it blows up or can’t go anymore. It has 320k miles on it right now!
When I first start my truck in the morning, 2022 PB, I like to tap on the gas to get the engine going before I put it in gear. I find it better than the engine kicking in for the first time while I’m already driving.
And I love your ‘spaceship’ description!
@Drew
Yeah! I do the same. I don’t like starting off without letting the engine run for a moment first.
@Drew
Haha, thanks! It really is a cool upgrade.

Also, try sport mode, 4A, traction control off with 93 octane. It’s a fun combo!
That’s a great upgrade! Going from a 2013 XLT with 235k miles to a 2024 PowerBoost must feel like you’re in the future. Big jump in tech and comfort! For maintenance, just stick to regular oil changes, watch the cooling system, and let the regenerative braking work—this’ll help with brake life. Also, keep an eye on Ford’s OTA updates—they can improve performance over time.
@Finnian
Good advice, thanks!
Got a 2023 PB with the black appearance package and rapid red last year. I absolutely love everything about it. I get tons of compliments on the blacked-out look. Only thing I’d change is the larger gas tank for the PB. Enjoy yours!
@Zara
I just bought a 2024 PB, and I agree with you about the gas tank. I also wish I had gone for the 7.2 kw instead of the 2.4, but it’s still a huge upgrade from my 2009.
Nice upgrade, my friend!
Congrats! It looks great!
