2017 F150 3.5L EcoBoost Reliability Discussion

Agreed. It’s a small price to pay for peace of mind with these known issues.

Exactly. Saved me a lot of headaches.

2013 3.5L EcoBoost

  • 78k: Driver-side turbo and vacuum pump replaced
  • 80k: IWE replaced
  • 105k: Throttle body
  • 119k: Lead frame replaced under recall
  • 128k: Manifold and flex pipe leak

Truck has upgraded turbos and intercooler since 78k miles. It’s been reliable enough but has needed more repairs than any foreign car I’ve owned.

I’d argue 2017 is the best of its generation. Mine was great until it got totaled.

2018 3.5L EcoBoost, 80k miles:

  • 23k: Cam phasers (under warranty)
  • 70k: VVT solenoids (covered by third-party warranty)

Truck runs great. Tuned with a Truetrac LSD and Bilstein 6112s. Wouldn’t drive anything else in this class.
