2019 5.0 towing capability

Considering a 2019 F-150 STX (5.0L engine, Super Crew, 4WD, 3.55 gears, 145" wheelbase) for towing. I will be using it frequently: 100 miles weekly towing a 7,000lb dual axle dump trailer and a 45 minute daily commute one way. Wondering if folks have experience towing similar weights with this truck setup for extended periods, and how it handles.

In my opinion, you will be fine with the weight, but getting the proper tongue weight might be challenging. I would recommend using a weight distribution hitch for that load. Additional details on your trailer package and payload (as per the yellow sticker on the driver’s door) would be very helpful.

Most of the time, it’s about 5,000 pounds. I have a side job picking up trash one day a week, so I never load it to full capacity.

I would not recommend using a weight distribution hitch (WDH) on a dump trailer. If you keep the load around 5000 pounds, you should be fine. To reduce squat, consider adding something like RAS, SumoSprings, airbags, or Timbrens. My travel trailer weighs about 4000 pounds, and with SumoSprings to reduce squat, I do not need to use my WDH, though I still do on long or high-speed trips. If you load the dump trailer to its full capacity, Ford requires a WDH at a 500-pound tongue weight/5000-pound GVW, as the tongue weight will cause more rear squat than you would want.
