I need advice. I have a well maintained 2020 F150 EcoBoost FX4 with 50,000 miles. I use it to tow a 6 x 12 enclosed trailer weighing less than a few hundred pounds, mainly for hauling kids’ softball gear to games. Recently, my truck has been showing temperatures over 230 degrees, even when the outside temperature is in the mid-thirties and I am driving on slight hills at 65 mph on the interstate. The truck’s capacity should handle this easily. Is this normal, or could something be wrong? This issue has only started recently, so I’m a bit concerned.

If it is a 3.5, I recommend installing a new thermostat:
- HL3Z-8575-B Thermostat
- HL3Z-8255-A Gasket
I also bought a gallon of pre-diluted coolant. It took about an hour in total, and the process was straightforward.

It’s not common for a well-maintained truck like your F-150 to overheat, especially with a lightweight trailer. Since this just started happening, there’s probably a specific reason. Check the coolant system, Look at the coolant level, radiator, and hoses to see if anything looks off.
