I’m considering a 2021 F150 XLT with 50k miles priced at $27,400. Trying to figure out if it’s a good deal for my first truck. Any thoughts?
Seems a bit high for 50k miles. The 2021 models also have some issues with the 10R80 transmission, so it might be worth getting a warranty/ESP through Ford. The XLT trim is pretty mid-tier in terms of tech and options.
@Marlow
If I could get the price down to around $25k and get a warranty, would that make it worth it, or should I look for another truck at that price point?

I’d aim for around $24-25k.
I think it’s a great deal! I bought a 2021 F150 XLT with 84k miles for $28,900, so this is a steal by comparison!

However, just like others mentioned, the 10R80 transmission has issues. Make sure to test drive and pay attention to the shifting, especially from 1st to 3rd and 3rd to 4th.
Is it worth taking the risk with the transmission issues at this price?
You can actually get a brand new truck for that price, and the gas tank is pretty small on this one. You might not like that.

Did they make one smaller than 26 gallons? That still gives you over 500 miles on the highway and 400+ in the city.
@Jesse
They used to make smaller tanks, but now all 2024 models have a 36-gallon tank. If you’re towing, you’ll be filling up every 200 miles. For the around-town vehicle, the 24-gallon version is fine. But take about 100 miles off your estimates if you’re towing.
@Jesse
My 2022 has averaged 21.9 mpg over 5000 miles of mixed driving, so I think your estimates might be a bit off. Of course, towing could cut it significantly.
@Jesse
I’ve got a 2022 4WD with 34-inch all-terrain tires. I lost 1-2 mpg with those mods. Mixed city and highway I get about 17, and when towing, it’s about 10-11 mpg.

Can you really get a new XLT for $27,400?

I didn’t see that on the sticker, but $27k for a new one isn’t a bad price.
The 2021 EcoBoost with the 10-speed transmission has known issues.
