47k XLT 302A FX4 or 44k STX… Which one would you take?

Looking at two F-150s:

  • XLT 302A FX4 with Black Appearance Package, used with 4K miles$47K
  • STX, brand new, no BAP$44K

Trying to decide if the extra $3K for the XLT is worth it. What do y’all think?

XLT has some features I can’t live without:

  • Adaptive cruise
  • Push-button start
  • Heated seats
  • Power seats/lumbar

That alone makes it an easy choice for me.

Yeah, for just $2K more, it seems like a no-brainer.

I’d skip both and get a used 2022 Lariat with the 402A package50K miles, around $40K.

But if you want new, I’d go XLT. BAP is pricey but looks sick.

Don’t 2022s still have the bad transmission issues?

@Scout
Anything built after August 15, 2022 got the updated drum, so that’s something to check.

@Scout
It’s a valid concern, but if you’re buying used, you could put the money saved toward a Ford ESP and extend the warranty to 120K miles.

The only downside is… someone else’s farts.

For not much more, you could probably find a brand new 302A.

Not sure what rates are right now, but new cars have had way better financing incentives than used ones.

For example, last summer I got 2.9% financing plus an extra $3,500 off for using Ford financing.

@Miller
I’m willing to drive all over to find a deal, but I haven’t had much luck with XLT pricing.

I have the STX base model and I really like it. The only feature I really miss is the keyless entry where you just grab the handle to unlock.

Fumbling with the key fob doesn’t bother me much though. Actually kind of fun turning a key again! :joy:

A lot of high-end cars are going back to physical keys too. But yeah, grabbing the handle to unlock is one thing I wish it had.

XLT all day.

Check insurance rates on both trims.

The STX might be cheaper, which could save you some cash in the long run.

Honestly, the Black Appearance Package (BAP) is not worth it.

  • The Sport package rims are just as nice.
  • The badges are already dark.
  • Any interior changes are minor.

I’d save the money unless you’re in love with the BAP look.
