Picked up a 2013 Lariat 4x4 as my new work truck. It already has a 2.5" level kit but really needs new tires.
I have been using Cooper ST Maxx on my current truck. They look aggressive and are pretty quiet for their size, but the ride is a bit rough.
Can anyone recommend a 295/70R18 tire that looks aggressive, does not howl on the highway, and doesn’t ride like a tank? I prefer tires with some width; I am not a fan of the skinny tire look. Even though they all say 295, tread widths can vary.
Anyone here have a tire they really like and would recommend?
I had 37x12.5” Geolandar G003’s on my 4Runner, and they handled well on the road for how aggressive they are. They did hum, but they weren’t any louder than my BFG KO2’s.
I drove to Moab and back twice with them, about 4.5 hours each way.
However, I would not recommend them for a truck that’s mostly used on the road. I would suggest looking into one of the new R/T tires. There’s the Duratracs RT, Falken Wildpeak RT, and Toyo has an RT as well, I believe. Kenda Klever RT is another option.
These are all fairly aggressive but still a hybrid between all-terrain and mud-terrain.
I have Falken AT3Ws on my Jeep and my RWD Ranger. Although the AT3W is no longer available, Falken has replaced them with the AT4W. From what I’ve read, the newer model is just as good, if not better. They’re reasonably quiet, ride well, wear well, and offer excellent traction in snow and wet conditions. I highly recommend them.
I’ve tried the BFG KO2s, GY Duratracs, and some Coopers. The BFGs were disappointing, the Coopers didn’t last, and the Duratracs got very noisy as they aged.
Another great tire I have used is the Toyo ATIII, which has similar characteristics to the Falkens, though perhaps slightly less impressive. I’d recommend them as well.
The only reason I am not using Falkens on my F150 is that they don’t offer the size I need, 305/70/17.

For daily driver (DD) off-road tires, select those with a mix of off-road capability and on-road comfort. Look for all-terrain tires with durable treads, low road noise, and good wet traction. Prioritize balance between off-road performance and everyday drivability.
If you drive aggressively, you might want to choose tires with deeper tread and stronger sidewalls. For the budget, tire prices can vary a lot, so it’s a good idea to set a budget and look for options that fit within it.
