Anyone dealt with code U0111 after their dealership cleared it without fixing?

I’m looking for insights about experience with code U0111. Recently had it come up and the dealership cleared it but didn’t really provide a fix.

I had the U0111 code along with P2C85 and POD94. During a road trip, everything went haywire while I was charging at a DC fast charger. I ended up disconnecting the 12v battery and it resolved itself after a few attempts, thankfully while I was far from home in northern Michigan. I’ve read it might have been a communication issue with the charger that triggered the errors. Were you trying to charge at all?

@Emory
I’m only using the mobile charger at home. The codes appeared while I was driving, not while charging.

I’ve been getting alerts on my new Lightning, which has just 600 miles on it. I got a service appointment and two days later, they only cleared the code and said they “couldn’t recreate the problem.” I’ve seen U0111, which is about ‘Lost comm with BECM.’ Any advice on how to get them to actually fix this?

@Jules
You might want to try a different dealer.

@Jules
I faced something similar and had to replace the shifter.

Was it the same code as mine?

According to my dealer, the shifter module issue can cause multiple codes, including the one you’re seeing. If you get the alert again, try moving the shifter lever to see if it functions correctly.

Same here! It’s a 2024 Flash.

You had to replace the shifter too?

Yes, I did.

I’ve had the U0111 code on my Flash since I picked it up. U fault codes usually aren’t very informative, since they can be intermittent.

That’s exactly what’s happening to me. Have you figured out what’s causing yours?

@Jules
Not really, I haven’t tried yet. I’m a mechanic, so I deal with a good number of Fords. The newer models often show erroneous codes. I updated everything on my truck with FDRS, but now I have a code for my blower motor relay, even though the blower works just fine.

I experienced this error about 50 times in my first year of owning my truck. It didn’t affect power or performance, and the error cleared itself over time. It was eventually fixed by replacing a solenoid in the shifter.

However, if you do notice any power reduction, it might indicate a bigger problem like a bad cell in your high voltage battery.
