The heat in my 2024 Lariat feels really weak. I tested it last night—set everything to max heat and fan while driving at 35 mph—but it stayed lukewarm at best. That’s not going to cut it for me in winter. Has anyone taken their truck to Ford for this? Is it something they can fix under warranty?
Weird, I’ve got a '24 Lariat, and Auto is usually too hot for me most of the time. Are you sure you’ve turned on the ‘Heat’ setting and that Recirculate is off?

Auto mode can get crazy hot for me. A lot of folks having heat issues might not realize that you need to specifically turn the Heat button on—it doesn’t work just by raising the temp. Ford could’ve made it more intuitive, but if you’re using Auto, everything should work without extra steps. I also have a 2024 Lariat.
@Winslow
So if I set the temp to high and put Auto on max (all 3 lights), I should feel more heat?

Exactly. If you don’t use Auto, you have to manually enable the ‘Heat’ setting in the HVAC controls.
@Winslow
Alright, I’ll try that next time I drive.

Hope it fixes the issue and that your heater isn’t broken. Good luck!

Not sure what changed, but now the heat works great with all the Auto settings.
@Winslow
I usually keep Auto on the lowest setting with Heat and A/C off, then tweak my seat heat or cooling for extra comfort. But I tend to run warm, so I don’t need as much heat.

The Auto temp control on the Lariat is way better than the 2023 Ram 3500 I traded in. That one would overreact to even small cabin temperature changes.

Heat has been on since I bought it, so I know that’s not the issue. I also checked Recirculate, and it wasn’t on. Honestly, even if it was, a properly designed heater system shouldn’t be affected.
@Niko
Maybe it’s a problem with the heater core? I never liked using Recirculate in the winter because it makes the car feel humid. With Recirculate off, I feel like the heat is stronger, but maybe that’s just me.
@Glenn
For keeping windows from fogging, the A/C should be on—it dries the air as it passes over the evaporator. Recirculate doesn’t really matter here, except that it cycles the already-dried air back through.
Have you tried using the physical Max Heat button below the screen? My 2023 gets super hot in under 30 seconds when I press that.
I’m dealing with the same problem. The heat barely works. Mine’s going to the shop on Monday.

Let us know what they say. I’m curious.
I’ve got a 2024 Lariat and had similar issues. Posted about it here before—people’s experiences seemed mixed. The general consensus was that it should still get hot, but Ford’s heat pump system isn’t as quick as the older PTC units. My truck’s in service right now for a bunch of issues, and I asked them to check the heat. I’ll update here once I hear back.
Same here with my '24 Lariat. Even on Max Defrost, it’s not as hot as my 2022 was. Warming up the cabin takes forever.
Auto mode doesn’t seem to do much for me either. Heat is toggled on, but I have to max out the temp for it to even attempt warming up. If I override the vent settings (so it’s no longer on Auto), I feel a bit of heat, but it’s not like a normal gas vehicle.
Even after waiting for the heat pump to ‘pressurize,’ it doesn’t improve. My Tesla Model Y heats up fast and gets hot in minutes—huge difference. Maybe there’s an issue with the temperature sensor in the Lightning?
Has anyone measured the actual vent temperatures? I’m going to check mine today.
It takes about 4-5 minutes for the heat to fully kick in.
