Anyone else having issues with wireless CarPlay after iOS 18?

Ever since I updated to iOS 18, my wireless CarPlay hardly ever works. Maybe 5% of the time I can get something to play. I’ve tried unpairing and repairing it, even tried a wired connection… still nothing.

Should I take it to Ford, or are they just going to tell me to wait for iOS 18.1 and hope for a fix?

I’ve got a ‘21 F150 with Sync4, no problems here with iOS 18.

I have the same truck and year, but Pandora won’t load for me after the iOS 18 update.

I’ve got a 2019, and I’ve only been able to connect to CarPlay once or twice since updating to iOS 18. It just won’t connect most of the time now.

Yeah, sounds like the same problem I’m having.

Different issue, but ever since iOS 18, my SiriusXM app keeps stopping halfway through a show when I’m using CarPlay. It’s driving me nuts!

Does it stop at the same time every time? If it’s consistent, maybe it’s a setting or timeout issue.

@Chance
No, it’s random. For example, it’ll stop about 10-20 minutes into DJ Santarosa’s show on Pitbull’s station, acting like I lost internet. I’m about ready to cancel SiriusXM since I mainly use it at work.

CarPlay is fine for me, but I hate the new Photos app. And the Settings app is a mess too. Plus, my iMessage keeps saying messages failed to send.

I had the same iMessage issue in a group chat with an Android user. We both deleted the chat, and it seemed to fix the problem. Still, there are definitely some bugs.

No issues with CarPlay. I’m using a wireless adapter in my F-150.

Which wireless adapter are you using? Does it work well with the stock Ford screen? I’m curious if it’s worth getting one.

@Charlie
I’m using CPlay2Air. It plugs into the USB port under the radio. Works perfectly, I’ve had it since 2020.

I’ve got a ‘21 F150 with Sync4, no problems at all with iOS 18 and CarPlay.

Since the issue started after the iOS update, the dealership probably won’t be able to do much. They might charge you a diagnostic fee and try resetting the system by disconnecting the battery, but it’s not guaranteed to fix anything.

I’d suggest contacting Ford Support online to see if they know about the issue and if there’s any upcoming fix.

@Alexis
Thanks for the advice. Luckily, my truck is still under warranty, and I’ve got a $0 deductible on the extended warranty.

No issues with CarPlay on my 2022.

Same here, no issues.

Everything’s working fine for me in both my ‘21 and the ‘23 loaner I’m using right now.

I have iOS 18 on both my iPhone 13 and 16, no problems with either one. Have you tried unpairing and re-pairing?
