Anyone know how to make a 2021 2.7 EcoBoost louder...?

Borla Touring catback exhaust isn’t bad at all. It’s quiet like stock until you go full throttle. I’ve had mine, and you can hardly tell it’s louder than stock unless I really floor it. The interior noise is the same as stock. It’s a well-designed exhaust that doesn’t create too much drone or extra noise.

But honestly, if I were you, I would spend the money on a 93 octane tune and an upgraded intercooler. You’d get nearly 100hp/tq and make your truck way faster, running low 13’s or high 12’s in the 1/4 mile.

Great advice! Appreciate it bro!

No worries. Don’t overlook the 2.7L engine. It’s actually pretty powerful and surprises a lot of people.

For reference, I have a 2021 2.7L and ran 13.2@102mph in the 1/4 with a 93 tow tune. With a 93 performance tune and a bit of engine braking at launch, it should hit 12.9 at 103-104mph. I’ve got E30/E50 tunes, but haven’t made it back to the drag strip. I think it could run low 12’s with the right launch.

A 12-second truck is pretty fun as a daily driver.

I’ve got a tuned 2021 2.7L. Can confirm it’s an absolute beast for a daily driver.

What’s a good tune? I started looking into it, but I got totally overwhelmed.

Unleashed Tuning is what I’d recommend.

Stage three motorsports is a solid place to check out. I went into ownership knowing something would eventually break since I wasn’t keeping things stock. Maybe I just got lucky with vehicles that tend to cause issues for others.

Honk the horn.

Swap the 2.7 for a 5.0 and add the exhaust of your choice.

No, honestly, I’d leave it stock.

I’m actually thinking about trading it in to be honest.

I’ve got the 3.5L, and once I get the engine and tranny issues fixed, it’s getting traded in too.

@Zach
I’m going back to the 5.0, even if I can only get an XLT instead of a Lariat. I’m so over turbos and cam phasers.

@Zach
A big reason I bought this smaller engine was for the fuel savings, but everyone I know with a V8 says it’s not that big of a difference. I’m getting about 12.5 L/100km, and they’re getting 14L.

@Zach
Damn, I wish I was getting 14L per 100km. I’m averaging 15.5-18, depending on where I’m driving. If I’m towing, I don’t even bother looking because it’s terrible.

@Zach
I get about the same in my 2022 3.5L as I did in my 2011 5L.

My 3.5L has been a nightmare. No tranny issues, but I’m on my third motor and I’ve only got 108k on it. The alternator just went out, and it looks like a huge hassle to replace. I hate this truck. I’m buying the new 7.3 Godzilla engine. I just want a reliable pushrod engine that hasn’t been over-engineered.

@Bennett
Oh no, I hope the warranty was still active on that.

The 2.7L is the best engine, especially for someone younger who needs something that’ll save on fuel and last for years.

Trust me, once you’ve spent hours late at night in the cold under your truck watching YouTube videos trying to fix a leaking 5.0 or dealing with your Rough Country lift, you’ll appreciate that reliable 2.7 you traded in.
