Anyone regret getting the XLT or is it solid?

Hey everyone,

I’m thinking about getting a Lightning in the future, but I’m stuck on whether I need the extended battery. Most of the time, I don’t drive more than 150 miles a day, but I still find myself leaning towards it.

The price jump between the XLT and Flash is pretty big, so I’m trying to figure out if it’s really worth it. One thing that bugs me is that I don’t think you can get adaptive cruise control on the XLT. I don’t really care about BlueCruise, but I love adaptive cruise for highway driving.

So, if you have an XLT, are you happy with it? Or do you wish you had gone for the higher trim?

I love my XLT SR. This is my 7th EV, so I knew exactly what range I needed. Since November 26th, I’ve put 3,000 miles on it with zero issues. No regrets on not going for the extended range.

I did swap out the seats for some Lariat leather take-offs, but honestly, the cloth seats grew on me. I actually prefer the standard screen over the bigger one in higher trims.

Also, I paid $39,643 for mine, which makes it an even better deal.

@Asher
I paid like $15k more, so I love it a little less than you… but still happy with it. Also did the leather seat swap.

Forgive my ignorance, but what’s a take-off?

You can buy leather seat covers from a new F-150 for around $300. You swap them out for the cloth ones, but it’s a time-consuming process. Takes about 10 hours and a few busted knuckles.

@Wray
Or… I call my buddy who’s a Ford mechanic and have him do it in two hours.

It’s more like upholstery work than mechanic work, but if you can convince him to do it, more power to you!

@Wray
Definitely worth a shot!

@Asher
Same here! Got my XLT SR in November 2023. Charge overnight every night. Only two things I wish I had: adaptive cruise and seat memory for different drivers. My wife and I adjust our seats totally differently, and I have to scrunch in when I drive it. Other than that, no complaints. We also added Katzkin leather seats, and they made a huge difference. The truck feels much more finished now.

@Asher
Curious—how long did your last six EVs last?

I tend to go through vehicles fast. Two of them were Chevy Bolt buybacks.

@Asher
How’d you get such a low price?

Curious about this too.

Same here—XLT ER with the 312 package is the best value for the money.

Yeah, Flash is probably the best value trim for 2024, but I got the 312 XLT ER for that reason.

Same! The physical buttons, heated seats, and adaptive cruise checked all the boxes for me.
