Anyone tried out Matrix Headlights? Worth it?

Has anyone here activated the Matrix headlights on their truck? Curious if it makes a noticeable difference and if it’s worth the time to get it done.

Yep, totally worth it!

Agreed, definitely worth it.

Does it change how the high beams work? Or are they just always on?

They stay on, but you can switch back to low beams manually if you need to. I added them a few weeks ago and took a couple of night drives on rural highways—worked like a charm, no one flashed me, so I guess they’re not blinding oncoming drivers.

@Mica
Is there a guide for enabling this in FORScan? I’d love to try it out.

Check out the big thread on the F150 Lightning owners forum. That’s where I found all the info I needed.

@Mica
Would you recommend FORScan over Carly?

FORScan, for sure.

FORScan is a software tool that lets you adjust settings on your truck via the OBD-II port. Just search for FORScan online, and they have links to the needed scanner.

Once enabled, there’s a toggle on the main display for glare-free mode. You’ll notice a green matrix icon in the dash instead of the usual high beam symbol when it’s on.

I activated the Matrix headlights on mine a few months back. My truck’s going in for a front sensor update soon, which also updates two modules related to the lights. I’m curious to see if it affects anything.

@Oakley
Nothing will happen to the Matrix lights after the update—they’ll still work fine. The update also enables BlueCruise 1.4 features if your vehicle supports it but hasn’t activated them yet. With version 6.14, you can use FORScan to enable those.

@Kyrie
Thanks for the reassurance! Excited to try out BC 1.4. Have you activated it, and if so, what new features are you seeing?

Yeah, I have. BlueCruise 1.3+ improves lane keeping on curves, adjusts within lanes, and even does auto lane changes. The first part kicks in with an IPMA update, but the other two need FORScan. The lane control is so much smoother now, especially on tight curves.

@Kyrie
I did that before a long road trip over the summer, and BC was amazing! Would be nice if they added support for more roads, like some of the US highways.

Yep, they’re fantastic. I don’t get why these aren’t standard for US vehicles, while the regular auto headlights feel overly sensitive and not all that helpful.

I just activated mine an hour ago. Took it for a drive, and I’m really pleased! The curve-following effect adds a lot when driving on winding country roads.

I love the smooth ‘fade’ effect as they adjust. Very satisfying!
