Are used truck prices going up or is it just me?

Got an email after doing an online appraisal a while ago. The price they quoted is $12k higher than what I got a few months back. Just wondering—are we seeing used Lightning prices climb?

Yeah, used car prices in general are rising. New car prices are going up too, so it’s pushing used prices higher. Plus, the $7500 tax credit might be gone soon, which could make used ones even more expensive. Ford isn’t really offering big discounts either.

When I bought my ‘23 Lariat, Ford had a $7500 manufacturer offer, which helped keep prices lower. But honestly, I don’t stress over used prices—these trucks are awesome. Super practical, and way easier to maintain than gas trucks. My 10k service was just a $60 tire rotation. No oil changes, no filters, and my brakes still look brand new thanks to regen braking. I’m never going back to gas.

If those aluminum and steel tariffs kick in, prices could go even higher.

Feels like they introduce tariffs just to push prices up, then remove them later, but companies keep the prices high anyway. Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what’s happening here.

A lot of people seem to be ditching their Teslas after all the drama with Musk. That could be driving up demand (and prices) for other EVs too.

Carvana is offering me $44k for mine… Last month it was $37k. That’s a big jump.

Bought it brand new for $44k seven months ago.

Wait, you got a Lariat brand new for $44k out the door?

KBB gave me an instant offer of $42,500, but their trade-in estimate was $50k. A dealer I talked to said they’re going for $36-39k at auction, but I think those numbers are lagging behind actual market prices. Looks like prices are on the rise.

Thinking about trading my ‘23 Lariat ER for a Sierra EV just for the bigger battery and range.

Lol, my ‘23 XLT SR (2,700 miles) has a trade-in value of about $36k, private party $42k.

So yeah… I’m kinda screwed.

Don’t get too excited. KBB’s numbers can be all over the place, especially for cars that aren’t super common like a RAV4. If you really want to know what your truck is worth, get a CarMax appraisal.

Yeah, I didn’t go looking for this, but a few months ago KBB was giving me around $42k.

I still owe more than mine is worth, so while prices are going up, I’ve got a ways to go on my ‘22 Platinum.

At least mine has all the features they later removed—max recline seats, heated steering wheel, onboard scales, bigger battery, dual inverters, etc.

@Linden
Are you trying to get out of it? I’m in a lease and still about $6k upside down, but I’m getting closer. :joy:

Damn, I think I’ll wait for prices to drop again.

Yep, same truck from my local dealer went up $4k recently.

Probably because people don’t want to drive a Tesla anymore.

2024 models lost the bed weight scales, and the 2025 Flash has a smaller battery. Just a heads-up.

2024 Flash doesn’t have a smaller battery. That only applies to the 2025 Flash and XLT ER.

@Ben
Yeah, that’s what I meant—just worded it weird.

It sounded like you were saying both 2024 and 2025 have smaller batteries.

Might wanna reread what you wrote.

Yeah, I see that now. I was originally gonna say something about the 2024 Flash being a unicorn, then changed my mind but left part of it in.
