The screen is fine either way. Yes, it’s slow to boot up, but is it worse than physical buttons? Probably, yes. However, it’s not difficult to make adjustments on the fly, and you get used to it quickly.
You’ll love it, honestly!
I have a 2024 Lariat ER with the large screen, and I absolutely love it. Missing physical buttons feels like range anxiety—it goes away over time.
+1 for the XLT with the 12" screen if you still want buttons.
I love the large screen!
As someone who enjoys buttons, I initially thought I wouldn’t like the big screen. However, it quickly became familiar, and the large navigation display is awesome. 9/10 would choose a big screen again. If only they would add a couple of user-programmable macro buttons or dials under the screen to make it perfect.
I appreciate the large screen for watching YouTube during lunch or while charging. It can be finicky at times but usually resolves itself. Personally, I’ve adjusted well to the onscreen buttons, and this is my first vehicle with such an advanced screen setup!
I feel the same way. I chose a used 2023 PRO with the 12" landscape screen and absolutely love it. There’s even a button to turn off the screen, which is great for night driving. The music keeps playing when the screen is off, which I prefer.
What buttons do you frequently use while driving? The only buttons I regularly engage with on the infotainment screen, apart from radio/CarPlay, are for heated seats and steering wheel, which I usually only touch once or twice during my drive.
I like the large display and don’t find the lack of physical buttons to be a problem. There are still physical buttons for defrost, windows, emergency signals, and more.
@Eli
Honestly, the physical button for max defrost is very convenient and well-thought-out. I love it.
@Eli
I use buttons for temperature control, heated seats/steering wheel, and adjusting HVAC. In winter, heated seats tend to turn down after an hour, and I always need to turn them back up.
The large screen is quite good. The Automatic Temperature Control works effectively; set it and forget it. I keep the heated seat on auto, and it adjusts well with the cabin temperature, preventing my backside from overheating. However, I sometimes forget to activate the steering wheel heat, but the button is easily located on the screen’s lower left corner.
I thought I would miss physical buttons, but I really don’t.
@Ridley
How do you set the heated seat to automatic? Is that an option?
