Convert Key to Push Button Start - 2024XL

Hi there, I just received my 2024 F150 XL and was surprised to find it uses a key start instead of a push button. I have the OBDLink and FORScan software to add the trailer brake controller.

I am wondering if anyone has used the same tools to convert from a key start to a push button start. Any advice, guidance, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you surprised that the XL still uses a key? You didn’t order a Lariat, my friend. On the previous generation, it’s not just a matter of using FORSCAN to change and install a button. I am not sure if it’s the same with these newer models, but I would be impressed if it’s as straightforward as installing the button and enabling it in FORSCAN.

I’m surprised to learn that not all F150 models come with push-button start. I’ve been buying Ram trucks for the past decade, and all 5th generation models, including the Tradesman versions, have had push-button start since 2019. It seems like Ford is lagging behind in that regard. For those who prefer a physical key, it’s similar to any other convenience feature. In the past, things like power windows and locks were only available in higher trims, and before that, it was air conditioning and cruise control. Some people prefer vehicles without these features because they add complexity and potential points of failure. However, in my experience, those people are in the minority.
