Did You Find This in Your Mailbox … About Your Truck?

My truck has 83,000 miles, and it’s been working great since I got it new in 2019.

Ford is trying to avoid trouble with the EPA. They changed how some parts work to meet rules. Fixing it is part of an EPA plan.

That’s the right answer.

My Ford dealer called me to set up an appointment and came to my house to do the update.

That’s easy.

The tech said that’s all he does. It took him about 20 minutes.

I got the letter for my 2016. I did it with no problems. I think I might get better gas mileage now, but they put in new spark plugs, so it could be that.

That’s good. I’m going to have mine done this week, and a coolant flush.

I’d bet on the spark plugs, the EB engine is hard on them.

It’s just a software update that takes 30 minutes.

Good. The letter says, “Time for repair is less than half a day.”

It depends on how busy the dealer is. You can ask if they can do it with a mobile tech. They will come to your house and do the update. When I’m in the mobile service van, the update takes me about 10-15 minutes from start to finish. The whole thing takes about an hour and a half to get everything going, check the car, take a video, set up the update, do the update, and then shut it all down. It depends on the internet and the weather.

@Farrell
Okay, thank you.

My light has been on and off a few times. I hope this fixes it…

I want to see if this update will help my fuel use.

I haven’t seen the letter for my 2019 yet.

Maybe the recall is only for some numbers?

Maybe. Or different states with different rules? I’ll check the Ford app.

I would NOT do it until others have. Every time I’ve had a diesel car and they want to do this, I don’t because it messes up your fuel use and makes it worse. I’ve always avoided these updates

Yes.
