DIY Wireless Charger for the front compartment

I came up with a part that fits into the slots in the front compartment and connects to a MagSafe charger.

Since the XLT doesn’t have a wireless charger up front, I made this and it works perfectly every time… unlike Ford’s wireless charger haha.
Before anyone asks, I designed it so the phone isn’t facing me while I drive less distractions is always better. I’ve tested it on the road, and my phone stays secure!

By the way, what are those slots in the front compartment for? They kind of remind me of the FITS system in the Maverick, but they’re different. Do all Lightnings have them?

Would anyone be interested in this part? I’m thinking of selling it cheap or maybe posting the design file online.

That sounds amazing! I’ve got a 3D printer, so if you’re willing to share the file, I’d love to print it myself. Or if you’ve posted it somewhere already, a link would be awesome.

My '22 ICE does have a wireless charger, but I’m not a fan of how it’s designed. I lost the tray insert once, which holds the phone in place on the charger, and without it, the thing was pretty much useless. (Good luck finding that part in the catalog, by the way!)

I eventually got the insert back, but I mostly use the USB cable for charging because it’s faster, and I prefer my phone in the center slot near the cup holder. CarPlay also seems more reliable when plugged in.

Your design looks way better—it’s more compact than the stock wireless charger.

They’re there to hold the tray insert!

That’s really cool! FYI, you can upload photos here directly now if you want to show us your design :blush:

The MachE had similar issues, and Ford sent out replacements to owners.

I didn’t wait for Ford’s solution and just went with an aftermarket option. I only really use it on long trips for one of our phones, though.

Wait, the XLT doesn’t come with a wireless charger?

Nope, no wireless charger in the XLT. But honestly, the one in the Maverick and the Lightning test drives didn’t impress me anyway.

@Jordan
That’s true. I barely use mine. I’ve got a cord coming out of the center console, and my phone just sits in that slot by the shifter.
