I was having trouble with my Charge Station promo code, so I ordered an Emporia 48A hardwire EV charger. Of course, the Charge Station shipped right after.
Which one is worth keeping?
I paid $399 for the Emporia and $0 for the Charge Station.
However, it seems like people are selling the Charge Station for around $500. So, I might break even after shipping.
I’m looking for opinions. Should I keep the Emporia but go through the hassle of selling the Charge Station, or should I return the Emporia? It seems the Charge Station occasionally has problems.
EDIT: I have a 24’ Flash, so I’m limited to 48A anyway.
I’ve got the emporia charger and it’s an excellent charger. Has an app to track charging. I’ve got the ford charge station sitting in my garage. It took several months to get the ford charger so I bought the emporia charger based off of people on the forum and I’m glad I did.

Oh interesting! What kind of issue did you encounter?
I’m worried that if the Ford one messes up, it might be a headache to replace.
It was an odd error stating that my truck required venting, but the Emporia charger doesn’t support that. It turned out to be a glitch because our trucks don’t use venting or send that information.
The mobile charger and the charger at work were functioning properly. They were able to log in, check it out, and send a replacement. I was down for about a week, but I used the Ford mobile charger in the meantime.
Sell the Ford Charge Station Pro. It’s overkill unless you have a 22/23 ER that can utilize the full 80 amps or plan on fully integrating it at home. Moreover, it’s not even compatible with next-gen EVs that have native NACS, making it essentially obsolete unless Ford issues a different cable. At least with the Emporia, you can charge anything with an adapter.
The Emporia is great if you just want a straightforward charger with a good app and easy installation.
However, if your utility company offers reduced rate EV charging (Time of Use) programs, ensure that either the Emporia or Ford Charger Station Pro is compatible with it (the charger needs to report charge time and amount back to the utility company for discounts).
When I installed my Emporia in January, it wasn’t compatible; but it became compatible a month later, so I’m very happy with its performance and savings.
The cord on the Charge Station Pro is bulkier to accommodate 80A and has DC pins on the connector that won’t be used. I sold my Ford charger and got the Emporia because I came out ahead financially and didn’t want to deal with that heavier cord and bigger plug.

There’s an Evicqo on Amazon or something like that. Has anyone tried that one?
It’s full of fake reviews! Someone posted a link on other forums showing that over 80% were fabricated or ‘free provided’ reviews. Almost got caught up in it myself!
