First vehicle newer than 2007—what are these wire looms at the back of the bed for?

Just picked up a 2016 Lariat with the tow package. Not sure if that makes a difference, but I’m trying to figure out what these wire looms at the back of the bed are for.

That’s actually a drainage line for water that collects in your tonneau cover seal.

That makes sense! There’s one on each side, and they don’t seem to connect to anything electronic.

This made me laugh, thank you.

Definitely water drainage for your tonneau cover.

They are wire looms, just not used as looms—drainage indeed.

Drain tubes for the tonneau cover.

They’re not wire looms. At least on my truck (with the same tonneau cover), they’re drain tubes for the tonneau’s built-in gutter system.

I call it a truck downspout.

The fact that it’s newer than 2007 isn’t really the issue—it’s having a hard tri-fold bed cover. I wondered the same thing when I got mine. Like everyone else said, they’re drainage tubes. If your truck is used (which I assume it is), check those hoses when the weather permits to make sure they’re actually draining.

Wire looms for extra turbos under the body. +200HP.

That looks like something aftermarket. Do you have any extra lights installed?

They’re just drain tubes for the tonneau cover.

I thought the same thing. Had to zoom in after reading these comments.

Why not take a closer look and see what they’re attached to? Oh wait, you said it has a tow package!! Yeah, don’t ever touch those then… something about a tow package and water drainage just doesn’t mix!!!
