I’ve got to say, the adaptive headlights on my truck are incredible. Watching them in action at night is like a mini light show. One time, I saw them freaking out on the back of a van, trying to find a window to project under—it was oddly entertaining!
But here’s the letdown: they don’t dim for oncoming traffic. I keep getting flashed by people with their high beams, and it’s driving me nuts. I figured this might just be an early version of the tech, but apparently, that’s not the case.
Now, I’ve discovered that you can unlock better features by tweaking some settings with FORScan. It’s not just a quick toggle in the menu—you need a laptop, a special cable, and some patience to make it happen. Honestly, I’m tempted to try it because the thought of fully functional Matrix headlights is too good to pass up.
Has anyone else done this? Is it worth the time and effort? And does this void anything warranty-related?
Yep, I’ve used FORScan to enable Matrix headlights on my XLT. They work great and dim perfectly for oncoming traffic. You might want to double-check your settings or make sure the camera is calibrated correctly.
That said, some people will flash their high beams at you regardless. These LEDs are super bright, and some drivers just get annoyed by them.

I’m new to all this FORScan stuff, but it sounds like a game-changer. What else have you customized on your truck?
Oh man, where do I start? I got rid of the annoying ‘FULL VIEW NOT AVAILABLE’ box on the backup camera, enabled glare-free headlights, increased the steering wheel heat, changed the turn signal flashes to six, disabled the seatbelt chime, and turned off the double honk when exiting the truck. The last two don’t even need FORScan.

Wait, you can disable the seatbelt chime without FORScan? How do you do that?
Yep! Just turn the truck to accessory mode, wait for the seatbelt light to turn off, then buckle and unbuckle three times, ending with it unbuckled. The light will start flashing. Buckle and unbuckle one more time, and boom—the chime is gone.
This is super helpful! I’ve been meaning to try enabling Matrix headlights myself. I’m surprised they don’t already block light for oncoming traffic by default. Isn’t that the whole point?

Right? Apparently, the feature is there but disabled due to outdated regulations in the U.S. Ford hasn’t bothered to update the software yet.
@Spence
That’s exactly it. In Canada, these headlights come fully enabled. The U.S. only allowed Matrix headlights after 2022, so we’re still playing catch-up.
