Ford EV Unit Loses $1.2 Billion in Q3 as Sales Decline 11%

I keep hearing EVs aren’t taking off, but in Toronto, I see Lightnings and other EVs everywhere.

Sold my Lariat just before prices tanked, and I’m glad. It was around $73k with a markup. Now you can find Platinum trims with under 10k miles for $60k. It’s a great truck, but I miss the $40k Pro price point.

@Parker
I’m looking—where are you seeing these prices? Cars.com, or elsewhere?

It probably didn’t help that Ford’s CEO publicly talked about slowing EV production; that could’ve cooled off some buyers. Meanwhile, competitors like GM are releasing budget-friendly EVs, so Ford may just be behind in production tech and capacity.

@Chen
Agree. Ford started strong with competitive pricing, but big price hikes, markups, and then a backpedal on production plans probably confused buyers. Why isn’t there a Ford EV with three rows yet?

@Ben
That’s the only thing stopping me from getting my mom into an EV. She wants the space she’s used to in her Edge.

We got a Blazer EV for $428/month. It’s roomier than the Mach-e and Model Y—though sadly, no frunk.

@Chen
True; nobody wants to end up with an EV the manufacturer might abandon.

@Chen
It’s smart for Farley to be upfront about production plans—better than letting news leak out.

@Marcell
Exactly—openly discussing their plans is expected and ultimately reported.

I’ve put 8500 miles on my Lightning in three months. Love it! But jumping to full electric from gas still feels risky.

Totally get it. I wanted a Lightning bad but going from ICE to BEV felt like a big step, even with all the research.

@Noel
I went for it after having a Raptor. It’s just an F-150, but smoother and faster with no gas or oil changes. If you can charge at home and don’t tow too often, it’s a no-brainer.

Same here. Took a month to shake off range anxiety, but now I love it.

Lower the price and I’ll help you with your sales, Ford!

I don’t get why the sales numbers are so low; the Lightning’s the best vehicle I’ve owned, hands down.

I wanted an F-150, but the high price and lack of range for the cheaper trims pushed me to get a Chevy Equinox EV instead. Just got a 2025 AWD RS for $41k out the door.

Equinox EV?

@Zara
Yep! Just fixed my post.

$41k out-the-door for an RS sounds like a good deal!
