I’ve got a 2022 model with a lithium battery. Should I be charging to 100% once a month too?
The monthly 100% charge is more for LFP batteries to help with calibration. NMC batteries don’t need it.

I charge mine to 100% once a month just to keep the cells balanced.
Your 2024 model has NCM batteries, not LFP.
Why does Ford advertise a range based on 100% if they tell us to charge to 90%?

That’s like saying a car’s advertised horsepower will damage the engine if you use it every day. You can absolutely charge to 100% if you want to, and the warranty won’t be voided.
Think of the 90% suggestion like changing your oil at 7,500 miles instead of 10,000 for better longevity. It’s a recommendation, not a rule.
@Paden
That makes sense, but range is a bit more important than horsepower, right? If I don’t hit the advertised range, I might get stranded. Underpowered isn’t as big of a deal.

Why would anyone charging less than 100% expect to get full range? It’s common sense, really.
If someone chooses to charge to 90% and then complains about not getting full range, that’s on them. What do you expect?
@Paden
I get what you’re saying, but my point is, if Ford tells us not to charge to 100% for the sake of battery health, it feels like false advertising when they base their range on that 100%.

No one’s telling you that you can’t charge to 100%. You’re completely allowed to, and it won’t damage the battery.
The recommendation to charge to 90% is for long-term health, not a requirement. Ford’s literature says you can charge to 100% daily if you need to. No one is stopping you.

Yeah, charging to 100% is totally fine when you need the full range, just like filling a gas tank completely. Ford just suggests not doing it daily if you don’t need to.
