Has anyone else used their Lightning to power their home after Helene?

My Lightning kept three of my neighbors’ fridges running for almost two days after the hurricane. I’m sold on this truck.

I charged my Lightning today at Electrify America in Augusta. While I was there, a woman said her husband was using their truck to power their home. When I left, I noticed most of the restaurants were still closed, and gas stations had long lines. It’s crazy that the EV chargers were working while everything else was down.

@Vega
It makes sense, the charging station probably shares a power source with Walmart. They get priority after an outage.

This is just the start. We’re moving toward using local storage like EVs to help with power issues. The grid may not be the future.

We could really use vehicle-to-grid tech right now.

@Aldrin
It’s coming. Hopefully, they figure out a way to make it work without causing issues with the grid.

If every household had at least one EV, that would solve a lot of backup power issues. Built-in generator right there.

That’s exactly why I got my Lightning. I don’t lose power often, but when it happens, I don’t want to mess with a gas generator in bad weather. This truck does everything I need, and now I have backup power when I need it.

A small solar setup comes in handy too during these situations.

What kind of solar setup do you have?

It’s simple. Turns sunlight into electricity!

I’ll stick to good ol’ fossil fuels, thank you very much.

There are brands like Ecoflow and Bluetti that make portable solar systems. They don’t store a ton of energy unless you spend big, though.
