I’m really interested in the PowerBoost but my main concern is longevity. Has anyone hit 200k+ miles on one? Any issues with the battery or overall reliability? Would love to hear your experiences!
We’ve got two 2023 PowerBoosts at work—one has 155k miles, and the other is at 120k. They’ve had some generator-related power issues, but those were resolved under warranty.
My first hybrid was a 2006 Ford Escape, which had a battery that took up the whole cargo floor area. That vehicle now has around 220k miles with no battery failures—just minor issues—and is still being used as a commuter by a family member.
My 2021 PowerBoost has been flawless so far, though I’ve only put about 50k miles on it. One thing I don’t love is the size of the truck—it feels unnecessarily big at times. That said, it’s a big improvement over the Escape hybrid tech, as it can coast at highway speeds with the ICE off, whereas the Escape could only do that at around 35 mph.

Are you referring to the size of the truck or the battery?

The truck itself. I’d actually love for the battery to be larger so it could go electric-only for longer. A plug-in hybrid would be even better. Given what Ram and Scout are planning, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ford goes that route eventually.

I got a 2021 PowerBoost with the 6.5’ bed. Love the extra cargo space, but yeah, the turning radius and parking can be a pain.
Still love the truck, and the 7kW generator is awesome. The 1.5kWh battery is fine, but I wish it were 3kWh or more.
Currently at 57k miles and still loving it.
@Mai
Thanks for the insight!
98k miles on my PowerBoost with no issues so far.
I’ve got a 2021 PowerBoost with 82k miles—no issues, and I still love driving it.
