Found this issue with my 2007 Triton 5.4. Not sure if I can still drive it. Looking for advice!
You can replace the belt and tensioner pretty easily, it’s just nuts and bolts, all external.

The part that’s broken off is what the tensioner is mounted to. Not sure if it’s safe to drive. I’m worried more of it might break off.
@Noelani
You might need a new front cover or timing cover. If nothing is rubbing and the belt is still running on the pulleys properly, you could drive it short-term. The other two bolts should hold it in place. Looks like it might be from a northern car with all that oxidation on the aluminum.
@Rin
Thanks for the advice, appreciate it.
It looks like the front cover is damaged. Check for oil or any wetness around that area. The part that’s broken is the engine’s front cover.
No oil or wetness in the area. What should I do? Is this fixable?
I wouldn’t drive far from home if that’s the main serpentine belt tensioner. If it comes off, you’ll lose the water pump and overheat, which could cause bigger issues. It doesn’t have to break completely, just wobbling enough could toss the belt.
I had a water pump go out on a long trip, and the belt came flying off because of it. Not fun. If you want this vehicle to last, I’d fix it before something worse happens.
@Rin
You either fix it now, or fix it later when it breaks and causes more problems.
