I Want to confirm my new F150’s towing limit. Saw online it can tow 12,200 pounds with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine, but how do I check for mine? Also, got a towing package, will that handle a 10,000-pound camper?
You can find the F150 towing capacity in their brochure, available as a PDF online. It details the capacity based on motor, gear ratio, cab size, bed size, and more.
Are you in the US? I am not familiar with the W1C VIN code, but I do see the W1E. I work at a Ford dealership.
The 5000 lb towing capacity applies when using the bumper as a hitch. Any factory tow package, which includes a class 4 hitch, will increase the tow rating by approximately 2000-7000 pounds.
If you plan to tow a 7000 lb travel trailer, pay attention to the truck’s payload rating listed on the door sticker, as this information is not included in the guides.
Keep an eye on your payload, which is listed on a sticker in the door frame. The max tow capacity assumes the truck is empty except for the driver and may be lower when you add passengers and cargo.
That said, any F150 with the 5.0 or 3.5 Ecoboost and a tow package should handle 7000 lbs a few times a year. Some 2.7 Ecoboosts can manage it too.
