How much does it really cost to level and align a truck?

I’m curious about the costs for leveling and alignment. Is it worth spending more for better parts or sticking with budget options? What have you all paid and done?

I like to keep things simple. I’ve got a 2017 STX, and my rule is… if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. Just got a nice tonneau cover and called it a day!

By the way, your truck looks amazing. Enjoy it!

Edit: Every time I get a notification about this thread, I come back to admire that color. It’s just beautiful.

@San
That’s Abyss Grey, right? I have the same color on mine, and I never regret it. It looks so good after a wash.

It’s stunning! Mine came in Race Red when I bought it used. It wasn’t my first choice, but it’s grown on me, and I’m not about to repaint it.

@San
And when it does break, you’ve got an excuse to throw on a big turbo.

Here’s my advice:

  1. Stay away from Rough Country and Ready Lift if you can.
  2. Go for a replacement strut instead of a collar.

An alignment by itself should run around $250 at a good shop.

What brand would you suggest? RC seems super cheap, but I’m worried the ride quality won’t be great.

@Jonah
Check out Fox 2.0 or Bilstein 5100s. They’re both solid options that won’t break the bank.

Fox 2.0s are definitely better. Bilsteins can ride a bit harsh.

I have the BDS 6" lift kit with Fox 2.0s, and it’s incredibly smooth. The kit cost me $2,500, but it’s worth every penny. Plus, it doesn’t void warranties and is DOT certified.

@Arie
That’s an awesome kit.

I’ll definitely check those out. I’m guessing they ride way better than Rough Country?

@Jonah
For sure. They cost more, but you’ll enjoy the ride way more in the long run. If you’re keeping the truck short term, pucks might do the job. Otherwise, invest in better struts.

@Jonah
Just to add, Bilsteins can feel stiff if you max them out. Fox 2.0s cost more but feel smoother than stock.

@Jonah
I’ve heard great things about Eibach level struts. I went with Bilstein 5100s, but they do feel rough at the highest setting.

Ready Lift works fine if you just want a basic puck spacer. Rough Country, though, isn’t great overall.

@Kiran
I put Rough Country on my Platinum, and it actually improved the ride quality. No issues for three years until I traded it in. What’s wrong with RC?

Their quality control and engineering aren’t great, and ride quality suffers. Some of their higher-end kits might be okay, but I wouldn’t trust them. Have you tried other brands?

@Kiran
I’ve used Bilstein and Rancho before. Honestly, there wasn’t a huge difference for the extra cost, other than being able to name-drop the brand.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Rough Country or Ready Lift for a budget option. I’ve got a 4-inch RC lift on my work truck, and it’s better than stock. My personal truck has a puck spacer, and it’s fine.
