How the 3.5 Ecoboost tows so well – Anyone else feel the same?

Truck did amazing getting this trailer home. It weighs around 8000 lbs when fully loaded. Much better experience than my 2012 Ram with the 5.7 Hemi. Looking forward to the summer!

This seems like a troll post.
According to this forum, the 5.0 is the only option and the ecoboost is trash.
You can’t enjoy having twice as much torque at 2000 rpms; that’s not allowed here, sir.

The only way to avoid engine debates in this forum is to talk about leveling kits.

I don’t care if the ecoboost can tow more. My 5.0 sounds like it can tow more, and that’s what really matters.

Looks like the front end is rising a lot. It could be the angle of the photo.
The tongue weight must be about 1000#. You might have to adjust the weight distribution hitch. The rise on the front should be under an inch with the bars off and then put on.
Does the front feel vague when you drive it?
You might need to raise the hitch on the receiver a notch.
I tow a 4.5K travel trailer with a '21 EB, and the difference in front-end rise with/without the WDH bars is just 1/8".
Happy trails!

@Echo
Yeah, the picture angle is odd. I had to crank the truck hard to get it where I wanted it through my driveway. The back of my truck is on soft grass, and the front end is on the sidewalk in this pic.
Next time I’m hooked up, I’ll measure the rise on my front. It didn’t feel vague at all getting the trailer home; everything was very smooth.

@Echo
I had to reverse my hitch when I switched from my Ram. It changed everything! So much smoother braking with the trailer nose 2 inches higher.

I settled for a '19 3.5 EB for this reason because I didn’t want a bigger truck. My RV is about 40 feet and just under 11k pounds with water, and it pulls it around Canada without problems.
Braking is fine if you’re smart about your downhill speed, but fuel mileage is horrible.

@Zeke
Damn, 40 feet sounds scary to me.
Mine is 30ft in the picture.

@Zeke
I’ve towed a 33 ft for over 15K miles now. The 3.5 has 86K miles and is still going strong. I did add air bags (a small investment) to reduce the bouncing over bumps.

What mileage are you seeing when towing?

I don’t like that question.

We get around 14/15 in Tow/Haul at 65 mph.

Towing what? A micro mini? There’s no way you’re getting anywhere near that if you’re pulling more than a small pop-up.

@Jonah
Yeah, you’re right. I’m lying.
What we tow can be found nearby.

I towed a Ram 3500 Cummins with the city and got 14. I was surprised the 3.5 could get better mileage while towing than my F350 with a 6.2L did on the highway.

Glad you can admit it.

I’m curious how well these trucks handle braking, especially downhill, with this much weight behind them?

Use Tow/Haul for engine braking. Brake to the speed you want going downhill and the engine does the rest.

I didn’t hit any mountain passes or big downhill sections.
My experience towing is that it depends on your trailer’s brakes, your gain setting, and how fast you’re going.
I prefer not to go over 65 mph when towing something this large.
