How to keep ProPower running with the truck off? (2024 XLT)

Hey everyone,

I’ve checked the manual and read a bunch of threads, but I can’t get ProPower to stay on for more than 30 minutes once I turn the truck off.

Here’s what I do:

  1. Turn on the truck.
  2. Turn on bed ProPower.
  3. Turn off the truck.
  4. Plug everything in—works fine at first, then shuts off after 30 mins.

I’ve also tried plugging everything in before turning the truck off, same result.

  • Battery is always over 80%.
  • Shutoff is set to 100km range.
  • “Keep on when vehicle is off” is enabled.

What am I missing? Any help would be appreciated!

I just leave the truck on. Didn’t realize you could run ProPower with it off. I turn off heat and headlights to save power though.

I think only 2024+ models have that option. Would be nice if Ford updated the older models, but I’m not holding my breath.

“Keep on when vehicle is off” only works if the load is above 90 watts. Anything less and it’ll shut off after 30 minutes.

Best way to keep it on is to leave the truck running—turn off lights, HVAC, and disable the vehicle run timer. If you have Forscan, you can enable Silent Mode, which shuts everything down except ProPower when you lock the doors.

That might be it! I’ll test it today—thanks!

Yep, that was my issue too. Nowhere does it say it needs 90W+ to stay on. Makes no sense since we told it to stay on!

@Palmer
Wow, thank you! I was dealing with this too and couldn’t figure it out. Makes so much sense now!

I just plug stuff in, turn on the truck, enable ProPower, then select the setting to keep it running with the truck off (resets every time). Maybe check if your shutoff threshold is too high?

Could something be tripping the breaker? I don’t see any errors when I turn the truck back on, but I’m not sure.

@River
Try running something with a low power draw first. Are you sure you’re enabling the setting before turning the truck off?
