So my truck has been in the shop since 1/16. Got the dreaded 53% power available and charging errors. Truck has 6,990 miles and is a SR XLT built in 12/23. Module 7, Array 65 failed.
A week or two before my actual power dropped and I got the Powertrain Fault, my guess-o-meter would be incredibly low. I’ve had this for six months, live in Glendale, AZ (so no extreme weather), and know the nuances of the range estimates.
I drive pretty modestly, my average range is 2.4 kWh. My guess-o-meter normally sat around 210 miles at 90% charge, give or take 5-10 miles. Two weeks before I got the error, I would be sitting at 175-180 at 90%.
It makes sense why it did that now looking back on it.
Surely this is anecdotal, but it seems to make sense. Anyone else with a failed module experience this?
They should be done by tomorrow evening. I’m watching the truck on my Ford app right now, and it looks like they are balancing the batteries. They’re charging it to 100%.
@Harper
Mine was dropped off 1/28. Diagnosed and module ordered same day. Estimated 3 days for delivery, so hopefully tomorrow or Monday it gets delivered… I hope. Not holding my breath, though, based on how long some others have taken.
Only since 1/16? Mine’s been in the shop since 12/11 with no repair date in sight. It will no longer be my problem after next week, though. I’m driving off the lot tonight with a new Flash.

No shit. Buyback? When you do that, do they offer the same financing and rebates you originally had?
@Harper
I took the buyback. They’ll pay me for my truck, and I do whatever I want with the money. I chose to buy a new Flash. With current incentives, I got better financing than when I bought last year—financed the whole thing at 0% APR.
If 70 degrees is winter and 45 at night, then sure. My fiancée drives a Lightning as well (parked right next to mine) and has had no impact on her range.

Which dealership in AZ? I purchased in the valley and always looking for the best place to take my Lightning in for service.
I bought from Larry Miller but use Peoria Ford for service. The service team (redacted his name) has been awesome with the two issues I’ve had (this battery and a shifter module failure).
Got me in a loaner right away and kept me updated every step of the way. I wouldn’t necessarily buy from Peoria because they couldn’t get me the deal Larry Miller did, but service has been top-notch in my experience.
@Harper
Awesome. Haven’t had any problems with the Lightning, but had a Mach-E before and the previous dealership’s service was horrible. Will take the truck over there in the future!
Seeing all these issues people are having… I’m worried about taking my truck in for recalls if they’re not going to provide me a loaner. I already paid for a rental for most of 2023.

Get the Ford BEV team involved. You will get a loaner or rental reimbursement.
