Is Ford's Pro Promise Charger worth the $1k?

I think my local dealer might be a bit confused (like some of you have said before) but they’re offering a ‘Pro Promise Charger’ for $1,000. I think it’s actually the Qmerit Ford Power Promise. Would you guys take that deal?

I didn’t take it. I applied the $1,000 towards the car price and got a Grizzl-E charger instead for less money.

I wish I’d done that. It would’ve been easier to install it myself instead of waiting on Qmerit. They started work three weeks ago and still don’t have the permit for it.

@Hollis
Wow, that’s a big delay. Was the delay the only issue, or did they mess up anything with the install itself?

@Hollis
It’s not really their fault. It took a few weeks for my permit to go through as well.

No, it’s their fault. They didn’t file for the permit until after the work was done. I only found out when I asked why it hadn’t been inspected yet.

@Hollis
I’m in Canada. I bought my truck on Saturday, and the charger was installed by Tuesday. The contractor brought the charger instead of Ford supplying it. Did they say why the permit is taking so long?

@Vaughn
They didn’t even bother filing for it until a week after I asked about it.

Are you using the charger yet? Mine still hasn’t been inspected, but I’ve been using it. Where are you located? Permits seem to take a while over there.

@Vaughn
My complaint is that I had to dig a 70-foot trench in my front yard, and now there’s a huge injury risk because I can’t fill it back in until they finish their work.

Yeah, that would be frustrating. Did Ford cover all that cost, or was there a cap on what they could do?

@Vaughn
I dug the trench, and Ford covered the rest.

I just took the $1,000 and installed my own charger. Check with your utility company; they might have incentives for specific chargers. It’s a good idea to get an electrician’s quote to know exactly what you’re getting into.
