Is the XLT Black Out Package really worth it?

Why would anyone pay $70k for the XLT Black Out Package? That’s almost as much as a Lariat, maybe even more. What’s the deal with this package? Are they trying to convince more people to buy XLTs instead of the Lariat?

I just bought one, and I paid $53k in total. Not cheap, but it’s nowhere near $70k.

I think you’re talking about the XLT Black Out Package with the 303A trim. It includes leather seats and almost all the features of the Lariat, except things like the folding mirrors, ventilated seats, and maybe a couple of other things.

@Nash
I wish the XLT had 4-auto. That would be a nice addition.

Yeah, that’s the main difference. Maybe the headlights are different too.

No heated steering wheel unless you go for the Lariat, which is a deal breaker for me, especially in Canada.

@Bailey
Once you get used to it up here, it’s hard to go without.

100%! After I had it on my Ram, I couldn’t go back. When I went shopping for my Ford, I told the salesman that was a minimum requirement. He said I’d need to get a Lariat then.

@Bailey
The F150 packages really confuse me. I wish I could just add heated seats, heated wheel, 4A, and LED headlights to an XLT. I don’t care about the rest of the features. Bare-bones 502A was my perfect package, though I originally wanted the 302A Sport, but ended up splurging.

Yeah, now that I’ve had a truck with heated steering, I can’t go back. It’s crazy that only Lariats and up have it. Plus, the 2023s removed it, so now there are even fewer options. It’s strange that it’s so hard to find on the F150 when it’s available on lower trims for other trucks.

@Bailey
Same here!

I paid $50k for a 302A FX4 with the black appearance package.

Same. I also paid $53k.

I think you mean the 303A trim with leather seats. The Black Appearance Package for the 301/302A trims is going for around $50k to $45k right now.

The Black Out package is totally worth it if you don’t like chrome, like I do. I remember it being one of the cheaper add-ons.

It’s only $500 for the basic version and $1000 for the Plus. The Plus has 20” wheels instead of 18” and a dual exhaust with rear bumper cutouts instead of the side exhaust behind the tire.

@Jess
I got mine with 18” blacked-out rims, and I was happy with that since most had the 20” wheels. I prefer having more tire.

I got a fully loaded XLT BAP with factory leather and FX4 for $55k OOTD.

That’s exactly what I need! What color did you get? Please post a pic.
