Got a quote from Zeigler for $1500 to cover a 2016 for 36k miles or 3 years. Seems like a fair price for some peace of mind against major repairs. Would you take it?
It’s funny how a lot of folks don’t realize this is a Ford factory-backed warranty. I’ve had it on my 2013 F150, extended it through them, and it’s covered me until Feb 2025. I’ve had it pay off many times over with the issues I had with the Ecoboost. Honestly, at that price, I’d say go for it. You can extend it based on need, up to around 10 years.

I just bought a 2013 F150 EB with 215k miles, not my daily driver but want to keep it in good shape. How does this work? Just trying to protect my $9k purchase.

For you, it might be too late. Mine’s been covered since new, so extending it was no problem. If you’re getting a warranty after the fact, Ford usually requires an inspection to qualify. With your mileage, it’s probably too old for Ford to extend now.

Got it! No biggie; this one’s mainly for hauling the dogs around and short trips. Keeps the good vehicles cleaner
This is the lowest tier coverage, so it might miss some things. I’d suggest a higher deductible for more coverage if you can.

Problem is, to upgrade, I’d have to drop the miles and years down to 24k/24mo max for a 2016. I’m really just looking for coverage on big stuff. Am I missing anything major? I don’t have high-end features like heated seats or advanced infotainment.
@Cael
Got it. For a 2016, you’re probably fine.
@Cael
Sounds worth it.
Look into Ford Premium Care ESP. Promo code PAYINFULL works at Zeigler.

Yep, PlatinumCare is the way to go.
Check out the common issues for that model year. If they’re covered, then it’s probably worth it.
If you’re keeping the truck long-term, I’d say it’s worth it. Just double-check the starting point for miles and years. With Zeigler, Flood, or Granger, it usually starts from the date of purchase at 0 miles, even on used trucks.
@Darian
Contract says it’s 36/36k from now.
Then yeah, if you’re not driving a ton, it’s a good deal. Repair costs can add up quick.
Be sure to read the fine print. Do you have any maintenance requirements with this?

It’s a Ford-backed warranty, so nothing crazy in the fine print.
These warranties have always paid for themselves in my experience.
Engine or transmission issues alone can easily cost more than $1500. It’s a gamble since you may not need it, but for $1500, it’s solid peace of mind.

That’s my thinking too. Three years of coverage feels like a win.
