Alright, maybe I’ll get roasted here but just got a new 2024 F-150 V8 Lariat with Black Appearance Package (Dual Exhaust), and honestly, it’s a bit too deep and loud for me. I know it’s supposed to be a V8, but it has this constant, deep pulsing sound that’s kinda annoying, especially at higher speeds. Is there any way to quiet it down a bit without swapping the whole exhaust system? I just want it to be a bit more low-key. Maybe I’m not the typical V8 fan, but it is what it is.
Why not just wear ear plugs while your husband drives?

Haha I can’t stop laughing at this!
You got a few choices:
-
Trade it in for a Prius and let your wife’s boyfriend drive the truck.
-
Take a hit on the trade-in and get the 2.7.
-
Suck it up and start enjoying the V8 sounds.

You’re reading my mind! I’ve got an '18 XLT FX4 5.0 with a single exhaust, and my nephews love it. Suck it up, princess!
@Vick
If the guy who posted this rode in my truck, he’d probably cry. I have a Borla exhaust, way louder than stock!
Slowly backing out of this thread lol.

Go back to the dealer and ask for a radio upgrade! Seriously though, how can you not love that V8 purr?
Just turn up NPR until you can’t hear the V8 anymore.
Haha, okay, fair enough. It’s not the volume or tone I have a problem with—it’s just this quick, repetitive sound that almost feels like a chopper noise. Wanted to see if that’s just normal.

Sounds like you’re dealing with droning. A resonator could help if you pick the right one. Go to a good exhaust shop and explain it. Or you could swap it for the stock exhaust from someone upgrading theirs.
@Rian
That’s the way to go.

Try test-driving another V8 without the appearance package, just to compare. My 2024 supercab V8 with a single side exhaust is really quiet. Maybe yours has an exhaust leak?

Hey, props for owning up to it. If it bugs you, it bugs you. I’d love to take you for a spin in our old company truck with a straight-piped diesel—now that was loud!

Try sport or manual mode. If the sound goes away, it might be the cylinder shutdown mode. My catback exhaust made it worse, but a tune can disable it.
@Roan
Can’t tune the 24+, Ford took encryption to a whole new level. It might be a while before tuners crack it.

Didn’t realize that! I almost upgraded to a 24 but stayed with my 23 for the tune benefits.

There’s a great Flowmaster video with about 10 different mufflers that explains the sound levels inside and outside the car.
