Motorcraft oil filters and alternatives

I looked at a lot of online discussions about Ford oil filters. Almost everyone said that Ford’s own brand, Motorcraft, is the best, no matter the cost. I haven’t found anyone saying bad things about Motorcraft filters. But I wonder if they are really that much better than other brands. Usually, companies try to save money when making original parts.

There is nothing wrong with Motorcraft filters they definitely filter and flow better than many aftermarket options (like AutoLite, Stop, Fram). Are there filters that perform even better? Probably. But whether the performance difference justifies nearly doubling the price is up to each individual.

Recently, Engine Masters on MotorTrend On Demand did an oil filter comparison, and if I remember correctly, Motorcraft performed well against all other brands. My mom has used only Motorcraft oil and filters in her 2002 Expedition for 220,000 miles without any issues; it’s still running fine. She also uses Motorcraft oil and filters in her 2010 Super Duty with no problems. I use Motorcraft, STP, or Summit Racing house brand oil filters on my '89 big block, and I haven’t had any issues either. I think, unless you’re buying extremely cheap filters, they all tend to perform fairly similarly.
