New Ford OTA Update Improves F-150 Lightning DC Fast Charging Times

Can someone explain which update brought this change and by how much? I’m not looking to sit through a long video for quick info.

The charge time has been cut by 5-6 minutes from 10% to 80%.

@Kim
That’s actually pretty decent.

Not bad for an over-the-air update. The 2024 and 2025 models were already at this speed while the 2022 and 2023 models will now see the improvement.

@Kim
So… more like four seconds of real info.

The truck can now peak at 500 amps rather than the old 450 amp limit and keeps that high speed for a few more minutes before slowing down. The change saves a few extra minutes on a 10-80% fast charge.

@Omar
Is this only for the extended range models? Or will the standard range get increased speeds too?

The amperage has increased for standard range as well. Seems like it’s about a 3-minute difference for a similar 15% to 80% charge.

What’s this update, 23B50?

I think it’s actually 10.3, not the CSP that has been mentioned.

It would be great if they actually pushed updates out. I’m really behind… haven’t seen an update since October last year.

Ford really struggles with their software updates. If your 12v battery is below 90%, it won’t update, which is ridiculous since the charging system for this truck only charges it to 70%. I had to keep my truck plugged in for a week before updates would finally come through.

@Charley
Did you get your battery charge control module replaced according to the CSP? I had that message pop up repeatedly until they fixed it for me.

This update is good news. The time for charging from 10% to 80% is now down from 45 minutes to 39 minutes. Along with that, the amp increase to 500 and the overall charging curve got better too.

The F-150 Lightning actually has a pretty solid charging curve compared to other electric trucks.

@Remy
The Silverado EV still outperforms it, but it has a much bigger battery and 800v system.

True, but that one costs around 100k. I nabbed my 2023 lariat for 55k.

And it weighs nearly 10,000 lbs…

Charge times have improved with a 5-10 minute decrease for 10%-80% on the 2022 and 2023 models. The 2024 models already had a 500 amp charging capacity.
