Really bad MPG on my 2014… any ideas?

I’ve got a 2014 F-150 Lariat 4x4 with the 3.5L EcoBoost, less than 40k miles.

I know it’s a truck, so I’m not expecting great gas mileage, but I’ve been consistently averaging 11 MPG, which seems really low. I’ve heard spark plugs or O2 sensors could be a factor. Anyone have experience with this?

Check and replace the MAP sensors—mine had oil all over it.

Is it leveled or lifted?

I have the same year XLT with the 3.5 EB and 4x4. The dash says I get 16 MPG, but I know it’s off because my speedometer is incorrect.

Does leveling a truck hurt MPG?

@Emerson
Yeah, even just leveling can affect it.

@Emerson
Depends if it’s a lift, level, or drop.

I have a 2014 with a 3.5” level and I’m getting 13 MPG.

Same. My 2011 EcoBoost has a 3” level with 33s and I get 13 MPG too.

@River
But on my 2015 Silverado 5.3, I installed a 2/4 lowering kit and actually saw a small MPG gain.

I get around 11-12 MPG with a 6-inch lift, 22x12 wheels, and 33s.

It’s lifted and has the off-road tires.

@Hyacinth
Well, there’s your answer. I bet it’s actually getting even worse than 11. Have you checked if your speedometer is accurate?

I mean, it’s the stock lift and tires that come with the off-road edition. Raptors aren’t getting 11 MPG, so mine shouldn’t either.

@Hyacinth
So it’s completely factory? Even a small level kit and going up 2” in tire size will kill your MPG. A full lift is even worse.

Yeah, it’s the off-road package from the factory.

I’ve got a 2011 EcoBoost, leveled, 175k miles, all-terrain tires, and I average 15 MPG in mostly city/backroad driving.

Oof. My almost stock 2019 FX4 with 100k miles and the 3.5 gets 17-18 MPG in the city and 21+ on the highway.
