Should I trade it in? Will it last another 100k?

I’m almost done paying off my 2018 XLT RWD EcoBoost with 100k miles. I’ve had the phasers fixed under warranty, and I’ve been good about regular oil changes. Should I trade it in now or do you think it could reliably last another 100k miles?

Most modern engines can easily last over 250k miles. It’s usually other parts that start to fail around that point. Just make sure you keep up with transmission maintenance!

What transmission maintenance? Should I flush at 100k and what else?

@Denver
Yes, flush at 100k is good.

Anything else I should be doing?

I paid off my EcoBoost too, and I’m trying to get it to 250k at least. I’ve seen others go up to 320k. I’m changing the spark plugs, O2 sensors, and I’ll be doing a transmission fluid change soon since I’m at 113k miles.

In 2010, I bought a brand new F-150 XLT 4x4 with a 4.6L V8. I stuck to the maintenance schedule and got 210,000 miles before I traded it in for a 2019 F-150 EcoBoost V6. I have 80,000 miles on it now, and it’s been perfect so far.

I’ve got a 2017 4x4 with a 3.5L, and it’s at 130k miles. I’ve had a 5 Star 93 octane performance tune since the warranty expired. I’d watch out for the water pump soon. Keep an eye on your coolant level. I get the transmission and differentials serviced every 50k miles, and oil changes every 5-7k miles. Had a high pressure injector fail at 80k, but other than that, no issues.

I have a 2014 EcoBoost 3.5L. I had the passenger turbo, water pump, and timing cover replaced under warranty at 99k miles. While they had the cover off, I paid for new timing chain components. I just hit 150k miles, and the only issue I’ve had is an O2 sensor that’s starting to fail, which is an easy fix. My mileage is slow because I work from home.

Definitely replace your spark plugs if you haven’t already. I did it around 75k miles, and it made a noticeable difference in my MPG.

I have a 2018 XLT with 158k miles. I’ve replaced both front hub assemblies, O2 sensors, and did a transmission flush. Nothing too serious. Just keep an eye on the transmission temperature.
