Saw something funny while driving earlier in Rutland, VT. Got me thinking about how much I still end up at gas stations even with an EV.
I still go to the gas station almost daily because that’s where the espresso shack is. Most of you probably don’t have those, but in the PNW, many gas stations have a little espresso hut in the lot.

Wait, are you talking about the bikini baristas in Seattle?
@Mai
Those do exist, even outside Seattle, but they’re not the norm. Most of them are just regular drive-up espresso stands. Even in rural Washington.

I’m in central Washington, but the espresso shacks here aren’t attached to gas stations.
@Will
Maybe it’s more of a western thing. Very different out here.

What part of western Washington do you consider rural?

I’d say Snoqualmie feels rural.
@Indie
I think of Snoqualmie as more mountainous. Rural to me is agricultural, like Sunnyside or Grandview east of Yakima.

Fair point. Those areas definitely qualify as rural!
@Indie
All about perspective. From where I’m at, rural is tied to ag and farming.

Totally agree. My area’s the same—lots of farmland.

Espresso shacks are everywhere in the PNW. It’s part of the culture.
Just got back from the gas station. Felt a bit awkward pulling up in my Lightning, but the attendant got a good laugh when I popped the frunk and took out propane tanks. He said, “I thought you were having engine trouble, but then you pulled those out like magic!”
@Cade
I popped the frunk at the grocery store the other day. Some guys were staring like they’d just seen a spaceship. Love the reactions!
I have a Diamondback cover and set up a camping chair while charging. People always give me funny looks.

That’s a great idea! Now I’m wondering what others do to pass the time while charging. I’m thinking of grilling in the bed next time.
@Mai
Whenever we’re on road trips, the kids take over the car screen to watch YouTube or play games. It’s funny how they ignore their iPads until the car screen is on.
Still hit up the gas station for gum, coffee, and breakfast sandwiches!
Hello from another VT Lightning owner!
