Tesla Superchargers… Cheaper and better?

Same here, about 5 cents cheaper at EA unless there’s surge pricing at Tesla, which can make it up to 15 cents more. But yeah, knowing a Supercharger will actually work when I get there is a real game changer.

In the southwest, prices are really close, sometimes even cheaper at Tesla. If you subscribe to Electrify America, it’s cheaper there, but they only have like 8 chargers per station max, compared to Tesla, where the smallest Supercharger I’ve seen had at least 10. The ones between Las Vegas and LA have like 100 chargers!

@Harley
With the EA membership, it’s almost 30 cents cheaper for me before noon and still 15-20 cents cheaper after. EA and EVgo are both 61 cents per kWh for me all the time.

At the EA charger in St. George, Utah, they were 67 cents. Tesla was 61 cents today. No time-of-day pricing, just flat rate all the time.

@Harley
But did you check member prices?

No, EA doesn’t publish exact member rates. They just give a rough percentage discount on their website.

EA is half the price of Tesla here in Wisconsin since they charge by the minute. But I still use Tesla for availability and reliability.

@Niko
Hate to burst your bubble, but EA switched to per kWh pricing in early September. Wisconsin, Nebraska, and South Dakota were some of the places I was following that made the change.

@Niko
Didn’t know they finally switched. Last time I used them was in July.

OP: I drove over the curb a bit…

As an EV owner who doesn’t fast charge often, what’s the actual cost per kWh?

One near me is 51 cents per kWh.

Did you get the Tesla subscription to save money? Wondering if it’s worth it since they don’t list the discount. I heard it gives you the same rate as Tesla vehicles, not the extra fee for non-Tesla cars.

@Thayer
I saw it in the app, but didn’t really look into it. I mostly charge at home, so I don’t take many road trips. Not sure if it’d be worth it for me.

Good to see you using the truck for “truck stuff.”

How much does it usually cost to charge? $5-10? And how long until you need to charge again on a road trip?

Definitely not $5-10. A full charge during regular hours is probably more like $50-60.

If you like the charger, you should try the car!

“Arrogant Tesla drivers” lol. Just avoid Tesla chargers if you don’t want to deal with them. Oh wait… you need them. :smirk:

Wait, Tesla drivers own the chargers too? Someone should let Tesla know, since they’ve opened them up for everyone to use.
