The 2025 Ford Super Duty Pickup Truck Still Starts Under $50,000

Anyone else surprised by this? Seems like a good deal for a heavy-duty truck, right?

:white_check_mark: Trucks are too expensive.
:white_check_mark: Trucks are too big.
:white_check_mark: Trucks should be single cab.
:white_check_mark: Trucks are pedestrian killers.
:white_check_mark: Insert dick joke here.

I’ll be here to check off all the usual complaints.

Is under $50k for a work truck really that bad though? People pay more for SUVs that don’t do half as much.

@Tatum
Yeah, for what it’s capable of, the price is probably one of the least shocking things about it.

These work trucks are beasts, especially in four-door versions. You can get a 2500 that’ll run 200k miles if you’re okay with some stiff suspension. Just don’t look at the coolant capacity… 18.5 quarts :joy:

@Basil
My issue is with all the extra features dealers slap on. I don’t need heated seats, a touchscreen, or an ‘ass-scratcher.’ Just give me basic Bluetooth and a rear camera, and I’m good. But the dealerships always load them up and jack the price. I’ll keep driving my 2015 for now.

@Chen
Rear cameras are required on all new vehicles since 2018, and pretty much all of them come with Bluetooth too. The tricky part is finding one without all the extra stuff… you probably need to order a custom build.

@Kim
Depends on where you live. Some rural dealers have more stripped-down work trucks, but yeah, ordering might be the way to go if you want one with fewer frills.

There’s a company around here that only sells basic work vans and trucks. Good luck finding anything that’s not white or super barebones though!

@Basil
We’ve got a 3500 and love it. Can’t beat that kind of workhorse for the price.

@Tatum
I thought vans were cheaper, but the Ford Transit starts at $48k now too, so I guess trucks aren’t looking too bad in comparison.

If you factor in maintenance and fuel efficiency, vans still win. But yeah, they can’t tow much.

@Corey
The F-250 is more fuel-efficient than the Transit, especially with the diesel. Plus, the Transit is much taller and not as streamlined.

Wish we had access to the diesel engines they get in Europe and Australia.

@Bailey
We did for a while, but the demand wasn’t there, so they dropped it.

@Corey
Totally unrelated, but I love the Civic Si :grin:

Has it finally broken the record for longest-running car without a horsepower increase? :rofl:

On a job site, trucks are a necessity. You can load up material and haul it to where it needs to go. Vans don’t cut it for that kind of work.

I considered a work van for a bit, but I chose a truck because it was just more comfortable for daily driving.
