Thinking about upgrading to a 2025 Lariat Powerboost… thoughts?

I’m considering upgrading from my 2019 Lariat Ecoboost (which has been an awesome truck) to a 2025 Lariat Powerboost. The new features and upgrades are really tempting, but I’m wondering what people think about the Powerboost compared to the Ecoboost?

The fake leather in the new models bugs me.

That’s actually one of my concerns too, but I’m not sure if I’m overthinking it. My 2019 has been amazing—92k km, Ruby Red—but the 2025 is tempting with all the upgrades.

A few things to keep in mind if you stick with your older model:

  • It runs on all cylinders all the time.
  • No auto start/stop system.

Mine has 135k, and I love it. Sure, a new one would be nice, but there are downsides too.

I love the Powerboost so much. Definitely worth it.

It really depends on what you value:

  • Powerboost: More power, better mileage (if you drive to benefit from the hybrid system), and the Pro Power Onboard generator feature, which is great for camping, jobsites, weekend activities, or emergency power.

  • Ecoboost: Simpler setup, still has great power and good fuel economy.

If you’re someone who would regularly use the generator mode, the Powerboost could be a game-changer. If not, the Ecoboost might be a better fit.
