Thinking of stepping away from the pavement life for a bit… what do you guys think?

The farm truck is still in the shop, so Blu gets a chance to hit the dirt for a bit. Of course, I had to snap some pics along the way. Testing out a different editing style this time. Enjoy!

Great pictures! A bit overedited maybe, but looks like an awesome day out.

Thanks! Yeah, I was going for more of an ‘eye-catching’ look with these. Just trying out some things.

@Sparrow
With how everything is AI-edited these days, I actually like the way you did these. The second one looks like the truck is sweating after a hard workout. Really cool shots!

Love these! Nice to see trucks actually being used instead of just sitting on pavement all the time.

Appreciate that! This is my work truck—mostly long trips on the highway hauling gear or towing. I also have an old Silverado 2500HD for farm work. It’s been through too much to put a new $50k truck through that kind of abuse, but it gets the job done while my Chevy is in the shop for some transmission work.

That first one looks straight out of a truck brochure… if those were still a thing.

Man, even truck companies don’t do PDF brochures anymore. Sucks if you’re into collecting that kind of stuff.

That’s a serious amount of aux lights!

Yeah, living out in the country means I’d rather see a deer before it’s too late than hit another one. :joy:

What’s the setup on the aux lights and tires?

Here’s the rundown:
2023 FX4 with a 2.5” front level, 1” rear lift shackles, and RoadActive Suspension in the rear. The back sits about 1.5-2” higher than the front since I wanted to keep a little rake for towing.

Running 35x11.50r20 Falken AT4Ws, load range D. They’re about 65lbs each, heavy as E-rated tires. The tread is deeper than most I’ve had. I’ve got about half an inch of clearance between the tires and upper control arms, and no issues even when flexing the suspension. In terms of wet road grip, these are some of the best I’ve tried.

For lighting: dual 30” light bars in the grille from M&R Automotive with universal brackets that fit most 21-23 grilles.

Auxbeam 4” flood pods in the intercooler opening—no overheating issues, runs the same as before.

Also installed four Auxbeam 4” flood pods on the trailer hitch. Drilled and tapped the hitch for mounting. Instead of wiring them to reverse lights, I put them on a manual switch in the cab for better control.

@Sparrow
How do those heavy tires feel? Slower acceleration? Worse suspension response? I’m guessing fuel mileage took a hit too.

I switched from 275/65r20 SL Recon Grapplers, which were about 34x11” and 48lbs—only a few more than stock. Didn’t notice much difference in performance or fuel economy.

I usually run premium gas, and on work trips, I cruise at 70 mph with about 7-800lbs of gear. Before, I was getting 22-23mpg. With the Falkens, I’m getting about 19mpg now.

Low-speed power is mostly the same, but above 50mph, I can feel the extra weight. Not terrible, but noticeable. I’ll probably go back to a lighter SL tire once these wear out.

Haha, fair take. I do a good amount of manual editing—adjusting exposure, highlights, curves, etc. But yeah, I use some of Lightroom’s AI tools for final touches.

@Sparrow
I meant that as a compliment! Looks so good it almost seems fake. Truck is looking awesome!

Awesome shots! They look professional to me, but what do I know?
