Towing a 20' travel trailer with a 2021 F-150 question

Towing a 20’ travel trailer with a 2021 F-150 question:

My truck doesn’t have the weighing feature, so is that why the “weight” option is grayed out when I try to set up my trailer? I was able to enter all the other information, but I can’t seem to input anything for the weight.

Now for a mystery… While driving and towing, at random times, I hear a single “bong” (chime) coming from the truck speakers. However, nothing shows up on the big screen display or the steering wheel display. Any ideas what this could be?

On a side note, I had the Roadmaster Active Suspension (RAS) installed last week, and I love how it’s improved the way my truck drives and tows.

The single chime might be caused by a loose connection in the trailer wiring. Try cleaning both ends of the wiring connector and applying a small amount of dielectric grease to improve the connection.

The onboard scale is likely inaccurate and unnecessary. Real-world experience is the best way to learn how to load your truck efficiently.

As for the strange noise, it might be a lane departure warning system malfunction. These systems can be unreliable, and it’s often best to ignore them when they’re clearly incorrect.

I don’t understand the technical term “weight function.” It’s been a long time since I’ve had to add a new trailer to my truck, so I’m a bit out of practice.

If the weight function isn’t available, it will be grayed out. The “bong” sound likely indicates that your vehicle is overloaded for the road you’re on or that you’re approaching a low bridge.
