Had to make a tough call because of work… I traded in my ‘23 Pro ER Lightning and got a Super Duty again. This time, I went with a gas engine instead of diesel. But man, the Lightning was the best vehicle I ever owned. I had a blast modifying it—added a light bar, disabled the frunk beep, got adaptive cruise working, and more. The looks on my friends’ faces when I sent them a pic of the entire front end taken apart just days after getting it… priceless!
This forum has been amazing for all things Lightning. Anytime I had a question, someone answered it fast. Not much drama here, just good help. A nice break from the chaos of other places online.
I was on a 4-year lease, 10,500 miles a year… ended up driving 16k in just one year because I loved it so much. Living off-grid, being able to charge for free and use it as a backup battery for my house was awesome.
I know this isn’t an airport, and I don’t need to announce my departure… but really, thanks to everyone here. It’s been a great ride.
Facts. I had a sick Denali Sierra, then COVID hit and I lost my job. My new job had a 1hr 20min commute… had to trade it for something that didn’t eat $800/month in gas.

Same here. I bought mine at the end of January… then February hit, and all the big discounts started. Just my luck.
I bought in December ‘23… then a month later I was seriously considering letting my truck ‘accidentally’ roll into a river so I could get a Lariat ER for the same price. But nah, I love my truck too much to do something crazy like that.
@Rai
I love my 24 Lightning Lariat, but why carry a giant battery when you’re not hauling anything? If someone just needs long range without towing, they should probably get a sedan or an SUV.
More trailers need to come with their own EV power systems… extra batteries, regen braking, even independent powertrains. It would be great if they worked with any truck, EV or gas.
