2024 3.5 EcoBoost with Goodyear All-Terrains. No leveling kit, running the bigger fuel tank. Just filled up and this is what it’s showing me…
You must be doing all highway miles somewhere in the Midwest.

That makes all the difference. When I drive from Colorado to Florida, I average 85mph and barely get 17mpg with my 3.5 EcoBoost, no level, and 33" Wildpeaks.
But in the city, cruising at 55mph with stop-and-go traffic, I can hit 22mpg easy.
Also, I started using 91 octane instead of 85, and my estimated range jumped from 570 miles to 650 miles on a full tank.
@Phoenix
If you can, avoid 85 in an EcoBoost. Not great for it.

I’ve always wondered about that. At high altitude, some say 85 is fine, but the manual recommends 87 or 91 no matter where you are.
91 makes a huge difference in performance, and I swear the added MPG almost makes up for the extra cost per gallon.
@Phoenix
Turbo engines should be running 91 minimum, period.

Yep, and it turns the truck into an absolute beast. It accelerates smoother, shifts better, and the MPG bump is nice too.
@Phoenix
The 5.0 benefits from higher octane too, but it’s not as noticeable as in the EcoBoost.
@Phoenix
There’s no way you’re averaging 17mpg at 85mph on all-terrains with a 3.5 EcoBoost.
I have a similar setup and I get 15mpg in town at 45-55mph. If I push 85mph, I’m looking at 13mpg max.

Yeah, people see posts about 22-25mpg and wonder why they only get 16-18mpg.
55-60mph is where the 3.5 shines in fuel economy, but if you’re doing 75-80mph, you’re gonna be stuck around 16-18mpg.
Last year, I drove back from Colorado with a tailwind and was coasting downhill at 85+mph. Somehow hit 23mpg in a Tremor with a 2.5” level. That was a rare fluke though.
Way better mileage than my PowerBoost gets lol.

If the PowerBoost had the same tank size, you’d see even better numbers.

What’s the terrain like where you’re driving?

I’m in Houston—so yeah, all flat. This is a mix of city driving and I-45 traffic.
@Aubrey
You’re definitely light on the gas. My truck usually shows around 700 miles on a full tank.
@Aubrey
I-45 traffic is basically worse than city driving, so honestly, this is pretty damn good.

Way better than my F-150, and I have the same setup!
Damn, I thought my 5.0 showing 595 miles to empty was impressive.

Same! But my truck starts yelling at me when I get to 25 miles till empty lol.
Also, why does the pump only let me fill 32-33 gallons instead of the full 36 gallons?
