Why do (most) people hate the idea of lifting/leveling a truck so much?

Genuine question being asked here.

I am actually curious why people do it. Looks? I get a lift if you go off road.

Looks. Some people feel it looks like a grandpa truck without a level. I think it looks fine and also I don’t give a hoot.

@Ari
The definition of Grandpa also includes the use of the phrase ‘I don’t give a hoot’ :slight_smile:

@Ari
We got a certified grandpa here :joy:

What’s interesting about the f150 and trucks in general is the huge range of drivers. You got pavement princesses all the way to daily contract workers. You got recreational only people, you got soccer moms. You got grandpas basic xl, and your $100k spending modifiers. You got budget only people, and you got luxury splurging people. It’s a lot all in one community.

@Ari
I’m all for the grandpa look. I want a crew cab with 6.5’ bed and a topper so bad I can taste it. And I don’t want a level anywhere near my truck. They look like the rear suspension is blown out when they have a level kit.

@Ari
Mine is apparently a Hyper grandpa truck with stock rims, XLT, and it has a cap.

So in my case, I wanted to fit some bigger tires with a more offset wheel and I also hated the factory rake.

@Orion
But why did you want bigger tires?

Personally I find they work better in the snow (NE Ohio) and they look cool. I’m just running 33” Kenda Klever R/Ts on my truck and they are actually awesome! It feels like I’m driving a Sherman when it snows.

@Orion
Wider tires do not work better in snow. They are worse. If they were better everyone would be driving around on 400 width.

Mine aren’t too much wider than the ones I had (265/65R18). I run 275/70R18 now with my Kendas. I find they work great for me :man_shrugging:

@Orion
I didn’t upgrade the size, and I’m not a truck looks/upgrades guy but I do think that passenger tires look odd on an F-150.

@Orion
I also have those tires, road noise is my only complaint. They look sick though.

I can get over the noise. My exhaust helps lol plus I usually have my radio pretty loud. They ROCK in the snow!

@Orion
ATs and MTs are terrible in the snow so that is quite a laughable excuse.

Im sure you’d know more than what I’ve experienced. Didn’t know we had tire experts in here :clown_face::man_facepalming:

@Orion
Don’t hate the rake till you pull something with it.

You’re right, I hardly pull anything huge anyway so it’s not a huge deal to me.
