Yeah, I’ve had to disconnect my phone from CarPlay and then reconnect. Doesn’t really solve your problem, but just letting you know I’ve dealt with it too.
This happened all the time with me. I had to go to the phone list in the settings, turn CarPlay off, then turn it back on. After that, I’d have to rewind my audiobook about 30 seconds.
When I upgraded to the iPhone 16 Pro, it started working perfectly. Makes me think it’s more of an Apple problem than Ford.
@Clayton
I upgraded from a 14 Pro to a 16 Pro, and it still happens to me pretty often.
My wife also has this problem with her Mach-E.
The fastest way I’ve found to fix it is to reset SYNC by holding the volume down and track forward buttons at the same time. It’s quicker than messing with menus on the touchscreen.
I don’t think it’s an Apple problem. This is the only car I’ve had that does this. I’ve used a couple of different phones since I bought the truck, and it happens with all of them, whether it’s iOS 17 or 18.
It seems to happen more when I’m near the truck but not getting in right away. Like if I load something in the back or unlock the truck and go back into the house before leaving.
This seems to be a Ford problem. I’ve had this issue on both my Lightning and my MME, but I haven’t seen it with my GMC, Kia, or Toyota.
When no sound works, I do a soft restart on the SYNC system. Just press and hold the volume down and next track buttons on the steering wheel until the Ford logo comes up on the screen. It’s much easier than digging through the settings. After the restart, check your volume too, just in case.
What’s strange is that this hasn’t happened to me yet. I wonder if it’s more common on the Lariat models compared to the XLT ones, since they have slightly different SYNC systems.
I’ve got a 2023 XLT, and CarPlay audio has worked fine so far.
