Anyone else feel the same about truck reliability these days?

@Finnian
I work at a Ford dealership, and we try to be upfront with everything—here’s your payment, here’s what it costs with warranty, etc. The local Toyota dealer is still pushing mandatory packages. They get away with it because their customers are so loyal.

Depends on the model. Tundras are having engine problems, and F-150s have transmission issues :man_shrugging: but I think the F-150 has a better interior.

Maybe if Ford supplied the engines and Toyota did the transmissions, it would be a great partnership.

I never got why Toyota, known for great hybrids, didn’t make a fuel-efficient truck like the PowerBoost.

I’ve said it so many times, they should make a plug-in hybrid pickup. It would be a huge hit.

Their hybrid system doesn’t fit well in a pickup. It’s more suited for front-wheel-drive cars with rear-wheel electric motors.

@Bret
And the air-cooled batteries can be a limitation too.

Winning ‘off-road’ doesn’t mean much for trucks. Most people don’t actually take them off-road; they just drive on gravel or dirt paths.

I once sat in a friend’s new Tundra, and while it looked nice, it felt kinda cheap inside.

I’ve got a leveled truck with 35” tires, and it’s fine for most trails. But for more serious stuff, I’d need better skid plates and maybe a lift kit.

I’ve had my 2015 F-150 for seven years, and it’s been perfect. Long trips, hauling, even off-roading—it’s never let me down.

Same here! I’ve got over 100K miles on mine, and it’s still as good as new.

What engine do you have?
